Who are we?

Haitian People Ready for Heaven is a non profit, tax exempt organization that exists for the purpose of helping Haitian people get ready for heaven. We are a Bible centered organization that believes:

  1. The Bible is the inerrant and inspired Word of God.
  2. That Salvation is by grace through faith. We can't earn or merit eternal life
  3. That Jesus is the only way to heaven. He is God who came to earth in human flesh to die on the cross to pay for the sins of all mankind. Only those who put their faith in Christ will have eternal life.
  4. That Jesus rose from the dead proving that God accepted His payment for sins.
  5. That a sinner who receives Jesus Christ as Savior has everlasting life.
  6. That Jesus is coming back again. We believe in a coming rapture of the church followed by a Great tribulation and a thousand year millennial kingdom.

There are great needs in the country of Haiti. There are needs for food and clothing, but the greatest need is for the salvation of Haitian people through the gospel of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Haiti is a land that has been in darkness for hundreds of years. They have worshipped voodoo and need to know that Christ died for their sins.

Haitian People Ready for Heaven was founded by Dessalines Simmilhomme, a Haitian Pastor who came to America twenty years ago for health reasons. He has a wife and five children who often accompany him when he returns back to his country. He has traveled back to Haiti at least twice each year to help his people. He also sends money monthly to help support and care for pastors and people. The board is made up of Pastors and lay people who believe the Bible and believe that the Great Commission includes Haiti.

What can you do?

First, you can pray. The Haitian people are open to the gospel. Many have come to know Christ as Savior, but others have joined cults or false religious churches. The need is pressing and it is immediate. Second, you can give. A small amount goes a long way in Haiti. A New Testament is around $3, and a complete Bible is $15. These Creole Bibles are printed in Haiti and can be purchased in Port au Prince and transported to inland rural areas and other cities.

Keep in touch. Our Web site will explain the coming trips that we will take to the Island where we will provide food, evangelistic services and training for Pastors. We are helping to provide the Haitians with church structures, Bibles, sound systems, etc. We have preached the gospel and have taught pastors. We have shown the Jesus film and have seen many come to Christ.
